I don't do much leapfrogging on long trips. Part of my control issues include

paying attention to the speed I'm going and keeping it pretty close to what cruise would do. With cruise control I hate not really paying attention to my speed and then all of the sudden I'm about to rear end the car in front of me. I don't want to turn it on and off like that. Maybe the adaptive cruise someone mentioned would cure that. I don't know if any of my cars have had that or not.
