I somewhat agree. It depends on the P5 team. Take 2007 for example. Kansas was
11-1 to end the regular season, but ranked #8 in the AP poll. Obviously, the Playoff is not the AP poll, but many of the same biases apply.
Six 2-loss P5 teams were ranked above them.
When a Kansas or Wake Forest has the rare exceptional season, they don't get treated by the media the same as a 1-loss LSU or Clemson. In that case, I believe an undefeated BYU finishes over a 1-loss historically "weak" or, according to Mandel a "Peasant" P5 school.
But I do agree that the "Kings, Knights, and Barons," of CFB would finish above an undefeated BYU.

If BYU goes undefeated & every conference champ has at least 1 loss & there aren't more than three 1-loss teams.
