Hundreds of magpies in my neighborhood growing up. My folks and everyone else
around loved the quails but hated the magpies who preyed on them.
At around 13 I started baiting and shooting magpies on Sunday mornings in the back yard. It was a big yard, I used sub-sonic ammo (no cans in those days), I had a good backstop and it was fun.
The strange thing - back then and even now you'd never know. Those filthy buggers still infest the neighborhood.....
