No, he wasn't. He got killed on the defensive side because his balance was so bad. He constantly leaned the wrong way, lost balance, fell trying to get position or box out and was never balanced enough to jump for rebounds. He worked hard for sure and had the right mentality, but he was NOT good defensively.
He could be a Karnowski type of physical defensive presence. He has very little explosiveness and is not long. But, if he can just learn positioning and become immovable in the post, he can definitely serve a role on this team.
