You are wrong - Worthington defended the post much better and more physically...
...than either Mika or Davis. BYU's defensive woes last season were in part due to these two guys.

Although they both hustled and could block shots, Mika was generally bad on defense and Davis was mediocre. Worthington demonstrated that he knows how to use his feet and physicality to body up players in the post, and unlike either Mika or Davis, he was able to prevent opposition post players from receiving the pass deep in the paint where they could more easily utilize post moves for easy buckets. Both Mika and Davis were flat out awful at that.

I'll agree with you that Worthington is not explosive -- but not long? He's 6'10" and longer than either Mika or Davis. Explosiveness is a trait that is most beneficial on offense, not defense. Playing post defense mainly requires good foot work, good positioning and physicality. Davis lacked all three and Mika lacked two out of three.

Didn't box out? He was one of the better players at boxing out on the BYU teams he played on. His post defense footwork and positioning were also generally better than his teammates.

I'm not sure what you're talking about regarding Worthington's balance, but he certainly didn't hit the floor as much as Davis or Austin -- those two guys hit the deck in nearly every defensive minute, usually trying to draw a charge. Sometimes it worked, but just as often it led to being out of position or a blocking foul.

You are flat out wrong about Worthington having a problem being out of position. How do you think he saw any time at all on the court? It wasn't his offense, that's for sure. He played post defense generally better than his teammates and pretty much all the PT he got was solely due to his abilities on defense.

I'll add that Childs had some good moments on defense last season, although sometimes he got drawn out of position and he occasionally made typical freshman mental mistakes. He very well may end up the best defensive player in the paint that BYU has had in a while.
