I have these conversations too. They never tell me anything about the BYU program. I learn two things from these conversations.

1. The person who I am talking to is a HUGE college football fan, they even know a few things about my crappy school.

2. The person I am talking to has a MASSIVE gambling problem. This guy knows way too much about BYU.

Those are the only things I learn from those random encounters. Sometimes we will have a short conversation about the church. If we do talk about the church we likely will also have an equally long conversation about how much said person Enjoys alcohol, women, or both. Then we will finish with how much we both can't stand Alabama.

As a message board we put waaaaay to much stock in the random things other fans say. The end.
