I feel like we don’t know enough about the old man to really let the story
sink in. I mean, is he a religious man? How old are we talkin? Like 80+ or 60? Is he a wise old sage or a senile old kook? Is he part of an MLM and he likes having more trusting people move into the neighborhood? Is he drinking alcohol out on the porch or lemonade? I mean what was his state of mind? Did he have a fight with his wife recently or maybe he had to bury a pet? Is he a ruffled grey hair, overalls with a pipe old guy or a slicked back hair, pin stripe suit, pocketwatch, and slim cigarettes kind of old guy?
