are certain locations that are more amenable to the lifestyle and preferences of a particular individual/family than others. And there's nothing wrong with that. But yes, we all should have an attitude that would allow us to be happy anywhere.
I also find it funny how many times I seem to hear people say something like, "I never would have predicted it, but wow, we've lived in Utah for all these years now." If Utah is where you chose to settle down, there's nothing to apologize for, and these sort of statements seem like sheepish apologies (i.e., "Don't think less of me for living in Utah all these years, I'm really not one of those types."). Uh, yes you are. As your story illustrates, you are a member of that community and you help define it. And that's not necessarily a bad thing.
