The problem I have based on all I have seen is the perceived lack of planning,
discipline and effort from top to bottom on this team. It is what appears to be a collective team culture of losing, not caring. Remember the "players only meeting" held weeks ago? These are the kind of issues addressed (i.e. guys hanging out, playing video games, not preparing with a sense of urgency). What happened? Nothing good. This team seems to have thrown in the towel since near the end of the first half of the USU game. I don't even like watching them play anymore. My wife and I are in NC for the game tomorrow, but we are not very hopeful. I don't care how bad of a season ECU is having, BYU's season is much worse. It has thus far lacked desire, fight, effort, technique - and there is no semblance of players who have been remotely "coached up."

I wanted to believe KS when he would lament in a post game interview that he would "fix" glaring problems. However, there is no "fix" for this team, when the coaches have no idea how to "fix" anything. Seven games into the season, we still can't run the ball, still can't throw the ball, still can't get pressure on the QB, still can't cover receivers, still can't get critical third down stops, still can't hang onto the ball, and still think that the best play on third and long is a hand off to the FB. We are watching defensive players shuffled in and out of games like there is some kind of rule to ensure equal playing time, and players like Burt moved from RB to LB then back to RB - getting one or two touches then left sitting on the bench. It's all so sad. At the end of it all, KS & Co. don't seem to know what to do. Hearing KS go after the offense after the MSU game, while still going out of his way to keep from going too hard after an incredibly horrible defense (still blaming it on the offense for not sustaining drives, when MSU's first drive of the game was from its own 10 and just marched down the field like it was playing a spring game vs. a bottom feeder FCS team) - just about lost me.

I don't want to give up on this team, on this staff. But, BYU is completely OUT of excuses when it comes to the second half of the season. It should dominate every facet of each game. It should win out. That's my expectation. If not, then I think the problems with this team run very deep. It is an embedded cultural thing that must be addressed at the very top asap.
