why would the existing teams want to take less money? Their CFP $12M paycheck
would have to be split 16 ways, their media contract wouldn't support the four additional teams at any decent rate. And they basically already have the NY6 for their bowl game...well except last year. The only reason to add another team is if that team adds a significant bump to a new media deal. BYU maybe.....nobody else.
