I have a hard time blaming him. The Kalani hire made a lot of sense at the time. His defenses had been very good with
The exception of one year at Oregon State, which was a terrible program when he was brought in. He was highly thought of by Whitingham and Anderson, both of whom have been successful coaches. Add his love of BYU to that and he seemed like a great fit. He's who I would have hired and most of CB was elated when he was announced.

The Detmer hire was more of a head scratcher to me, but I did see that there was potential there so I still understood it.

As far as basketball goes, we put together some of the best seasons in school history under Holmoe. It's not like the recent down years can be blamed on him. He's the AD, not the coach. His responsibility isn't recruiting, or development, or designing the scheme. Nor has Holmoe bungled a coaching hire there, because Rose is still the coach.

Sports have their ups and downs. Football is very down, but all of the other fluctuations seem pretty normal for an athletic program like BYU.

I don't think Holmoe has done anything to warrant his firing. Yet.
