It was the seeding that would have changed
BYU had a 3 seed in an eastern bracket. With Davies BYU is the 1 or 2 seed in the west. Everything would have been different and the NCAA is inherently unpredictable. But in addition to being a better team with Davies (who spent a couple of years in the NBA) the path to the final 4 would have been easier.
