I don't think anyone is too accepting of DUIs and I think it is laughable that
people minimize the effect theft can have on its victims.

The issue is much more complex than that. So is the lapse of judgment by the perpetrator.

Like I said above, a DUI is akin to texting and driving. 2015 statistics show that you are far more likely to get hurt by someone who is texting or distracted behind the wheel than someone who is drunk.

I think the conduct of a person making a poor decision on one occasion and getting a DUI is not as bad as a person making poor decisions tons of times to take what doesn't belong to them.

I think both are forgivable too.
