Grimes. I said a few weeks ago that coming to BYU as an up-and-coming OC would be a career killer due to the bare cupboard and recruiting restrictions (I.e., Honor Code) and that I would be very surprised if we got anyone like Grimes. I was wrong. I think BYU landed a great coach with a huge upside.

Outside of BYU FB, I'm actually a very optimistic and positive guy but I will admit that I've been pretty negative on BYU ever since the LSU game (I was in NO for that monstrosity). I really want to be wrong but I don't see Grimes succeeding here. Not due to his ability but due to what I mentioned above, specifically the Honor Code. It was really interesting to read the article about how many people he talked to and he still decided to come to BYU. In my opinion, BYU competes with one arm tied behind its back and just can't compete consistently in today's P5 CFB world.

I would be surprised if he is still here by the end of 2020 season because he will be let go. If I'm wrong, I will come back and eat more crow and would be happy to. So far, my track record isn't great as far as predicting things. Here's to a great 2018 season! Go Cougs
