You're going to assemble a group of mostly uber-active LDS kids and professors, have them work their tails off and excel academically while keeping themselves (at least mostly) in line with Church standards, and put them in an environment where a spiritual component to their education is encouraged and readily available.
You have top-notch extra curriculars and a tradition of excellence in a wide number of fields. Professors are largely there because of commitment to these particular students vs. their own interests in a publish-or-die field of research....
But take away the Honor Code, and its mandatory statutes and associated punishments, and the school I've just described becomes UVU?
You have an astoundingly-low opinion of the students and faculty of BYU, as well as the Church's ability to inspire people to live its standards of their own volition.
