I also grew up cheering for BYU. I was born in 1977, so I grew up during BYU's great years. I remember watching BYU games every week, monitoring BYU in the polls, going to the BYU-Miami game, being ecstatic when Detmer won the Heisman, feeling awful when Oregon killed BYU in 1990. In fact, I was torn in 2001 when the Y had its unbeaten record on the line against the U. I honestly think that I was happy the Y won that game. Shortly thereafter, I moved back East for law school. I started relying on message boards to follow Utah sports. At that point, I discovered Cougarboard. Ever since then, I've had a very, very hard time cheering for the Y in any game. But I guess that has to do with me and all my irrational hate or something.
