That's not how it works, particularly for small businesses. I have a small...
...business and have some employees (not all) in Utah. I can't just magically raise their salaries because costs have gone up. That would then require me to raise prices to my customers (B2B business), most of which are not located in Utah. That would risk me losing customers, which would then lead to layoffs (then they wouldn't have a job at all). I also can't necessarily do that because I have multi-year contracts with some of my customers.

I try to be fair with my employees in that business, but I also have to balance what comes in with what goes out.
