O/U in Vegas is 9.5. That’s probably a good line to measure success
Since you guys are projected to finish last in the big 12, the good news is that you can only go up.
And who cares if you grabbed a team from a market and then that team finishes in the bottom of the conference. Do you think the SEC would consider Tennessee locked up because they have Vanderbilt?
Grab the best teams with the best success, and let it bring prestige to your conference. That is better than grabbing teams that finish at the bottom of the conference that come from the same market.
