All of what you said it true, but in defense of the coaches, the players that
specialize in one sport are showing more of a commitment, and are often better skilled than players that are not playing fulltime. If you have to make a decision on who plays, why wouldn't you go with the kid that is always showing up to everything and has more knowledge / experience than another kid that is only there when he has to be there?

I disagree. Most great athletes are just gifted. Particularly those who don’t specialize and excel in multiple sports.
