Underwhelmed is the overriding feeling. While they hoped for a bigger name, they are also feeling like the pressures of the job from many fans are pretty overwhelming. One told me that during the process when Scott Drew's name came up, a photo of him eating at a Mexican restaurant was posted, and people started calling the restaurant asking if he was there. In my co-worker's words, "if the coach sneezes, everyone knows about it."

They were tired of Coach Cal. He felt like a salesman to them. They said he wouldn't really ever give straight answers at press conferences. At their opening event, he would always preach the contract value of former UK alumni in the NBA. I think Pope will be a breath of fresh air in that way.

They know their history and at least have some hopes since he was a part of one of the UK championships, but they're somewhat disappointed.
