right direction, it's a questionable resume to be hired by a blue blood Kentucky program. Just two seasons ago was a horrible showing in the WCC. Speaking of the WCC, the highlights for Pope there were that he upset Gonzaga a few times.
Then you toss in that he never made it out of the round of 64 in the tourney with BYU, and yeah. I'd be underwhelmed as a Kentucky fan. I would view it as a semi-desperation hire intended to stop the bleeding of being told no by elite coaches.
That's not to say that Pope won't succeed at Kentucky. Again, I think he is a good coach. But if I were a Kentucky fan, this is not a hire that would have me excited.
