runnincoug Intervention Needed
Maybe, maybe not. I could double my salary outside of BYU probably, but I don't.
Why? I was actually thinking about it this morning. I really love what BYU stands for, it helps me think that I'm doing something really meaningful with my life, not only collecting a paycheck, but building faith in the next generation. I get great flexibility in my job. I don't have to work Sundays ever. Great environment for raising a family.

Now, my job opportunities outside of BYU are not 5 million, but I'm also not getting 2-3 million to work here either. It's not the same thing exactly, I get that. And it's hard to say for sure how I'd feel in Pope's shoes. But just the way I'm wired ... I think I'd keep the 2 million and stay at BYU ... just because I believe in BYU so much.

So I don't think "everyone" would do it. Some would stay at BYU I think for similar reasons I mentioned. It's a good gig for raising a family, and keeping your Sundays mostly open. You deal with the honor code, but not the criminal code with players (usually). If you're loyal, BYU tends to be really loyal in return and you have a long leash before getting fired. In many ways, it seems like a great coaching situation. Plus, you get to help build the kingdom by building faith in mostly LDS young men. Sounds pretty great to me.
