Coach Pope saved our program. Having the backing of a crowd/mob right now doesn't keep you from being an idiot.
Truth is, hardly any HC upward movements right now come off as NOT making the former HC look selfish & back-stabbing to the losing school & its fans.
It's the nature of the business that makes it appear that way.
But BYU is returning favor by glowing on Kevin Young while ignoring Pope, too. Again, it's the nature of the business.
Pope should still be honored & respected here for years to come. It'll take time, but I'm hopeful he & we will get it right eventually.

If Pope keeps a heavy eye on Utah — or on BYU's interests — while at UK... he won't last two years there.

I'm not sold Pope will value them all that much. He risks a lot of criticism if they don't pan out for him at UK.

Ruechert probably will be a target by Pope, yes. I don't see Pope eyeing Utah recruiting much beyond that, though.
