- There's too much revisionist history on CB right now. Yes, I didnt like the way he left, but even still, Pope was/is a very good coach. He came into the program that had a decent team, but a poor future with recruiting. He started landing some decent recruits, but knew he wouldn't see them for a few years because of missions. He focused on transfers to bridge the gap, and had a few rough seasons, but he ended up building a pretty solid team. The last WCC year was rough, but he chose to focus on getting the young guys experience, which paid off big this last year. The team had a solid core, with some big talent about to come in. Losing Pope was a huge blow, and it's going to be a tough challenge for KY to hold the team together.
- Losing Hall would hurt a lot. This is less revisionist because a lot of CBers already didn't like him, but it seemed pretty unanimous throughout the year that Hall was our most important player. As a sophomore, he was huge for us. People focus on moments like the Utah game, but ignore others like Kansas. He had way more big moments than bad.
- KY is a huge hire, but a very risky one. He doesn't have much collegiate coaching experience, so recruiting could be a big challenge. The first real tell on how he'll do will be his staffing hires, which is why I think so many are anxious for news on that. He's even acknowledged that some aspects of the job scare him, so he absolutely needs to nail these hires.
- The Saunders portal decision baffles me. He would likely be our #1 or #2 scoring option next year. He's a fan favorite. If he transfers, I would be shocked. I don't have any info on his potential decision, it just seemed like he was an "all-in" guy.
