Pope was disloyal to his players, just ask Kolby Lee, Connor Harding, Wyatt Lowell, Caleb Lohner and Tanner Toolson about that, OH, and of course, ask Nick Emery. Pope was always ready to trade someone in for a chance at somoene else, in particular, Pope was ready to trade in an RM for a non-member who was on his third school and was totally mercenary. Pope was disloyal and didn't particularly look for loyalty. He had some success with this approach, but after a bad final season in the WCC, he held onto his returning players and guess what, he had his biggest improvement year over year.

As for NIL and open portal, gotta get used to it. Don't bash on guys that we have rooted for over two seasons. I've loved Hall and Saunders since their first games. Given the commotion, can't blame them for considering options.

As for Keven Young, I actually have some confidence in Holmoe and Santiago. The fact that after several years of building a relationship with him, they were certain their top target should be Young and Ainge and Smith also supported that decision makes me rather hopeful about Young. Young is the splashiest Bball hire BYU has made since LaDell Anderson. Not nearly as risky as hiring Steve Cleveland. No guarantees, but various bright and capable and knowledgeable people believe in him. Until proven otherwise, I will believe in Young also.
