Sure, but so do many other countries that never had a 1-child policy. For
example, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Italy, Spain, Singapore, and many other countries currently have fertility rates that are 1.4 or lower.
The discussion isn’t about whether China (and many other countries) has a problem — there is no disagreement on that point.

China is nearing a tipping point on the 1 child policy. It'll be 3-4 years and we'll see bad effects there.
