I agree with the hard work part, but completely disagree with being in control..
of their destiny. Individual human beings are more in control of our destiny now than we ever have been.
Yes, 100 years ago people had their own gardens, livestock, etc. But they didn't have antibiotics, modern medicine, pesticides. Lots of kids died. Lots of people died early. They could not easily relocate, or seek employment in other fields.
Life should be better now than it ever has been in this history of the world with modern conveniences and technology. Its so weird to me that despite this, as a society in total may be more mentally unwell than we ever have been.
