Being embarrassed is like taking offense; it only hurts the one who chooses to be on the receiving end. Maybe a good
question would be "why do people care what other people think about them?" There will always be a reason to be embarrassed or take offense. But never a productive or good one. Better to spend your outrage working to improve whatever the situation is instead of channeling your effort into being embarrassed or offended.
