Not true - doesn't have to be unanimous

1.05 Expulsion, Suspension, and Probation. By the affirmative vote of at least three-fourths (3/4) of the members of the Board of Directors, taken not less than fifteen (15) days after written notice to the Member Institution of the proposed action and the reasons for it and not less than five (5) days after the Member Institution has had an opportunity to be heard by the Board of Directors, the Conference may expel or suspend a Member Institution, or place such Member Institution on probation, for any violation of any of the provisions of the Code. Expulsion means a permanent and complete severance from the Conference in all sports.

The only questions are what is "any violation of any of the provisions of the Code" and is a violation actually necessary to expel? It appears this is ambiguous (intentionally?). There are no other provisions for expelling a member though, so either you only need 3/4 votes or there is no way to do it without a violation.
