Of the teams BYU has lost to (D1 games only):
Nevada is 3-0
FSU is 2-1 (only loss - Oklahoma on the road)
Air Force is 2-1 (only loss - Oklahoma on the road)
Total record, 7-2 (10-2 in all games), and if you take out OU, it's 7-0. (Incidentally, we play our THIRD OU common opponent on Friday.)
Of the teams Utah has beaten (D1 games only):
Pitt is 0-2
UNLV is 1-3 (only win is New Mexico)
New Mexico is 0-4
SJSU is 0-3 (admittedly, their schedule is BRUTAL)
Total record, 1-12, and if you take out the common game, it's 0-11. Take out Utah's wins and it's still 0-7.
That's right. BYU has not lost to a team that has lost anywhere to anyone other than OU in Norman. And Utah has not beaten a team that has won a D1 game, except by playing one of the other pathetic loser teams Utah has played.
Do I think this means something? No, not really. But it is amusing to me.
I do seriously wonder what BYU's record would be, and what Utah's record would be, if the schedules were reversed. I'd put money down that BYU would be 4-0, no matter what QB system we used, and that Utah would be 2-2, maybe 3-1? Possibly even 1-3?
