I attended and graduated from BYU a long time ago.......and thank heaven. Back in the day, when the academic standards were not so high more "regular" kids were admitted. Today the academic standards are so high that it's difficult to get in without an outstanding GPA, Test scores, recommendations, etc. IMHO what this has done has increase the occurrence of students that are so dedicated to their academic pursuits that they do not have time/take time to become well rounded in other areas of their lives. Or as my niece put it after attending for one semester and then transferring out, "There is a lot of geeks!!!!". And she was a 4.0 student.

Other students that have attended BYU have made similar comments and it's possible to see how that could happen.

See in point our "Lady of the Daily Universe" with the "call to repentance". Although, I must admit we had a few of those "back in the day"; probably not as many though!!!!!
