This may sound mean but i have seen that a majority of the kids that are LDS and good athletes that do not go to BYU and yes that includes Utah do not serve missions and I have to say I think that played a major role in their decisions the fact they likely never planned to serve and at BYU that is not that easily avoided unless you admit to your family flat out that you are not going to serve. Kids who say they have plans to serve and then choose another school a vast majority and when I say vast majority I literally mean 80+ never serve.
