It's fine to report that a subject is refusing interviews, and give background into the backstory as to why he is refusing interviews. But to publicly go after someone for not giving interviews (across the board) so as to not distract with irrelevance is manipulative and unethical.

I actually like Jay Drew. He's a good guy, a good reporter and very professional. Despite that, if I were Kyle Chilton, I would deny the Tribune access to him from here on out.
