Davies could have come out, made a few comments and hit the situation head on. Don't "no-comment" your way out of the 600 pound gorilla in the room.

He made a mistake and BYU did the right thing last year. It's over. It's done.

There was no reason to run from it. It's Media Day. Go ahead and say a few things and get it over with. Now he's going to get asked the same thing all season long.

I graduated with a Masters degree in Public Relations and I think I know a little bit about crisis management. What he did was 100% wrong.

The best thing you can do is always, always, always tell the truth and attack the situation on your terms. Never do the "no-comment" thing when everyone wants to know the story.

Tell the story the way you want it told. If not, the media (and public perception) will tell in their way.
