Here's a sensitive piece of my soul for all y'all
I went home to California this weekend. On Friday I went down to L.A. with 3 of my brothers for the Dodger game. Late that night, I was driving with my little brother in my dad's Explorer. We took an isolated desert road called Garlock Road, which cuts between highways 14 and 395. Since it was the middle of the night, there were no other cars, and I know the road well, I had my brights on and I was going about 75. This is normal.

I kept seeing rabbits all over the place. It was really bright because of the lights on the car, and I could see them running around on the side of the road. Occasionally one would run out a few hundred yards in front of the car and cross the road. I was in a conversation with my brother when a rabbit appeared from the left side about 100 feet in front of me, hopping across the road. It wasn't stopping, and I stepped on the brake. It kept going. I tried to angle the car so that it would miss the rabbit if the rabbit decided to stop at any point, but to no avail. THUMP THUMP. Right under the left wheels.

I was shocked. I've never hit anything in a car before, and I had only killed one animal in my life (years ago, with a B.B. gun, something I feel horrible about still). Anyway, I started crying, right there in the road, going about 30 miles an hour. For some reason my mind humanized the rabbit, and I could imagine this rabbit family sitting there on the other side of the road saying, "Where's Bob? Anyone seen Bob?" That may seem humorous, but it's exactly what came to my mind. I couldn't stop crying. I tried to miss the rabbit, but it had just run right into my car! There was nothing I could do! I felt horrible.

I calmed down and continued on my way, but it's given me quite a bit to think about since then. I wonder now if the crying was a result of the adrenaline rush. I'm not sure. Whatever caused the crying, though, I felt terrible, and I still do.
