The national media isn't smart enough to figure out
the level of insult "Pharisees and Sadducees" is to Bronco's fan base. Therefore, the national media doesn't care. Bronco largely deserves positive attention and has done a very good job with BYU football. I just do not understand his occasional Jeckyl/Hyde personality swings. Beyond that, his infatuation with doing more with less, such as bragging about how he gets all his coaches home by 6:00 pm each night (something he has done in the past) begins to wear on some fans who tire of seeing BYU come to big games appearing to be unprepared and out coached. BYU under Bronco will always be better than average - and may win a big game of national interest every three or four years, but that's about all Bronco will get it. And that is not bad - it's far better than what Crowton offered/provided and, in fact, it's really no worse than what Lavell did (outside of 1984, 1995).

I would be fine with most everything about Bronco if he could just convince himself that he is not "called" to be a football coach, but that it is his well paid job, that getting booed in his first BYU home game as a head coach vs. BC for giving up late in the game is no big deal (i.e. let it go), and that it serves no good purpose to chastise fans, players or parents of players publicly. If he is going to persist in the latter, then he better follow Al Davis' mantra: "Just win baby." Otherwise, the insults with scriptural references comparing BYU fans who question his play calling in the BYU/Texas game to the group of men responsible for the crucifixion of Jesus Christ will (for which he never apologized) will cut deep and heal very slowly.
