Hopefully Schroyer makes the difference. The players I really hope he lights a
fire under: Andrus & Yoeli. I think those 2 have the tools to really lock down the 4 & 5. As per the guards, Haws needs to really focus his mind on staying in front of his guy & not taking the risks. He's got plenty of quickness to do it against the best athletes out there, he just needs to focus & commit himself to that aspect of the game.

As he proved against the Zags late last season, Bryant has very high potential as a defender too--when he puts his mind to it.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Schroyer the last time 'round cuz of some of divisions I heard he created between players, but in his defense: (1) what I heard was biased hearsay, even if it was from a close source, (2) he's grown up a TON since then--proving his worth & weaknesses several times over in very diverse circumstances (which is a VERY good thing all around), (3) his defensive mentality is JUST what we desperately needed last year, (4) his recruiting so far has been a BIG breath of fresh air. Our staff really was outa touch in that regard, & has been for some time.

Honestly, my biggest issue with Schroyer is if he continues to prove his worth -- that he won't be up for consideration for HC down the road. Which means he can be sure to move on shortly--& won't be back. IMO, we desperately need a non-LDS guy at the top spot for bball--but a guy who knows BYU culture roots to rafters (like Rice & Schroyer do).
