Unfortunately Pavelski fell and was hurt. The big problem was the second hit, but that wasn't where the penalty was called.
It was an overly aggressive play. No reason to make that hit up 3-0. It was a mistake.
But it wasn't any dirtier than some of the hits the Sharks made in the series. It just was bad that he was hit twice.
Evander Kane broke Eakin's nose after a game and didn't get any discipline. He also violently cross checked Mark Stone from behind (while he was defenseless) and sent him face first to the ice. No penalty was called and Kane scored 30 seconds later.
