I’m calling you a liar if you claim you have played for years and NEVER seen that called.
You can argue that the call was excessive but there is no chance in hell you played junior hockey and college hockey and never once saw a call like that.

Man I played competitive hockey in junior, college and senior AAA pro and if a guy was cross checked like that, dropped to the ice and was bleeding from his head and out of the game 10 times out of 10 that’s a major penalty and probably a match penalty as well.

The NHL does not do instant replay for penalty calls. It appeared as if it was a check to the head, instant replay showed it was to the chest, but it appeared to the head. Pavelski was injured on the play, bleeding from his head, and out for the game. In my opinion based on replay I would say double minor would be right call. But with no replay in real time it easily could have looked like a cross check to his face, and the evidence showed blood. That easily could be called a major penalty.

Still the refs did not put four goals past Fleury, so your team needs to play D when it matters the most.
