Does that really matter?
After he's done with the minivan he will most likely get a crossover which is built on the same minivan platform, only it will have lost all of it's functionality in the name of aesthetics. ;).

We had a 2007 Sienna AWD, we now have a 2019 Odyssey EX-L w/ extras. I think the Sienna has a much higher build quality.
