I’m a believer that an early consistent bedtime helps kids in school
My sons all had bedtimes ranging from 8pm in elementary to 9:30 as seniors in high school. All three of them never struggled with waking up on time, doing above average on tests and performance and grades, and overall success. I’m not saying a bedtime during school was the only reason, but it was a huge part of their success.

My wife’s kids are honestly the exact opposite. Their bedtime has fluctuated through the years and depending on the day. They all struggle getting up in the morning and struggle with grades and tests and performance in class. I honestly believe lack of consistent sleep plays a role, we are trying to find a happy medium but it’s hard once habits have been established then if you just always have them on a consistent schedule since kindergarten.
