And see where things go from there. It would be great to see Haarms lead the NCAA in blocked shots, have a high field goal percentage (including from 3), become a focal point of the offense, and get drafted. If Yoeli gets drafted (as he should), that would mean NBA draft picks from BYU in two consecutive years. And then if someone else gets drafted the following year (three years in a row of draft picks)—which is completely possible—that would be unprecedented for BYU to my knowledge, and then BYU could really be considered a viable destination for future NBA draft picks. I think Pope and Burgess continuing to a great job developing our bigs will also help with that perception.
Id also love to see one or both of Averette/Barcello have a phenomenal year, and that being a springboard to solid professional basketball careers.
It would also be great to beat Utah, sweep Saint Mary’s, and pull off one or two big upsets, have a season free from major injuries, and see the same unselfish play on offense that we saw last year. Being one of the top defensive teams in the country would also be more than a feather in the cap, and completely achievable.
Of course winning the WCC tourney is a great goal, but I’m not going to predict anything there.
