d Do A LOT. Remember they never touch the principle 27B just the interest, most endowments aim for 5% interest. Which is around 1.35B annually. They could give every one of their 16,900 students (not sure if undergrad or total) a full ride scholarship at their 50,000 tuition. And still have about 500,000,000 left over, nearly 4x the athletic annual revenue. So the could easily subsidize the athletic department indefinitely.
My guess is this was already something they were considering, as they have A LOT of non revenue generating sports, way more than most other universities. Who knows?
