I’d be all for getting creative. Shorten the regular season. Send the bad teams home early(sort of like a half relegation) and create more games between good teams. Expand the play-in tournament. Throw in a mid season single-elimination tournament.

I’m not saying do all of these things, but experiment with finding what works.

82 games is a lot...I get they can’t simply shorten for monetary reasons, but if they can make some games mean more, perhaps they can recoup money that way.
