Call it something like the Kobe Bryant Cup. No rings, but maybe a banner, a trophy, a cash bonus for the players ... and the 15th spot in the draft lottery.
I think it solves the problem of there being an overemphasis on playoff success. It would give teams something extra to care about during the regular season without going the route of introducing some weird mid-season tournament.
