Trevor Lawrence was surrounded by top 5 recruiting classes every year he played at Clemson. And to be honest, most of the teams he played against in the ACC didn't have anywhere near the overall talent that Clemson did. So is him playing the likes of Pittsburgh and Duke every year really that much different than Zach competing against USU? For some reason, we intuitively understand this when evaluating Alabama's QBs, but not recent Clemson or tOSU QBs.
Now, that's not to say Trevor Lawrence isn't awesome. He may very well be the next Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck, as he's been touted to be. He's definitely shown up in some of the big games he's played in. Joe Burrow is also an amazing QB who was also surrounded by a ton of talent his senior year. BYU's recruiting classes fluctuate between 50 and 80 on the national rankings, yet Wilson's play elevated the offense to top 10, by making all sorts of NFL level throws.
