Intervention Needed
Again, doubtful. Some, sure, but the current base of Jazz fans aren't going to
just switch to Vegas fans. There is state pride as well.
I moved to San Antonio and certainly didn't become a Spurs fan. No chance

NBA adding Vegas and Seattle?
immacougar
5/18/21 11:26am
Which two teams would go over to the East?
RH84025
5/18/21 11:27am
One team. and if I had to guess it would be New Orleans, maybe Memphis.
Conan
5/18/21 11:29am
Just one would have to move
BigTex
5/18/21 11:30am
The nuggets volunteer as tributes.

5/18/21 11:33am
I was thinking the Timberwolves since they're closer to eastern conference teams
MrTootles
5/18/21 11:42am
Makes sense to have them in a kind of central mid-west north division.
Mitty
5/18/21 1:08pm
Mem and NO are both farther East than Minn. Go along with MIA, ORL, ATL, CLT.
BYUHgrad
5/18/21 3:05pm
Needs to be a good team, so not Minnesota...I’d say Memphis
PHXSUNS31
5/18/21 12:08pm
Min probably makes the most sense geographically, but could be Mem or NO.
Mitty
5/18/21 1:07pm
Get rid of conferences and just have the top 16 make the playoffs. Do divisions
cougaman
5/18/21 3:38pm
Vegas makes sense. Seattle already had its chance.
DieHarder
5/18/21 11:27am
Seattle may also risk burning the team or the arena during the next freak out
Ojiisan
5/18/21 11:29am
Or Santa Fe. Can you imagine a team in NM? That would be AWESOME
Marc Spector
5/18/21 11:34am
A second Oklahoma City team could be good.
TCuz
5/18/21 11:30am
Agree. Forget seattle. I think vegas would be great
cougfanz
5/18/21 11:33am
Wow, I did a double take on your post, as I thought Vegas would be too small,

Sonics got royally screwed by David Stern and Clay Bennett. Kind of screwed

Vegas franchise would hurt the Jazz. St George would become Vegas fans.

5/18/21 11:28am
Doubtful.

In 20 years they will all cheer for Vegas. It’s a proximity thing

Those that identify as Utahns: Jazz. Those seeking Southwestern lifestyle: Vegas
Zooropa
5/18/21 11:39am
So would all of the Californians moving in still blindly root for the Lakers?
Pangare
5/18/21 1:56pm
a real rivalry would help the Jazz
TomPetty
5/18/21 11:37am
I visit both cities a lot and I am surprised how little St.G identifies with LV
Jay Kay
5/18/21 12:06pm
Doubt it since many in St. George have northern Utah ties. They are transplants
BlooCoog
5/18/21 3:24pm
Nah...OKC owners had every intention of moving the team to OKC as leaked emails
BlooCoog
5/18/21 10:20pm
In that scenario which team moves to the East? New Orleans or Memphis?
BigTex
5/18/21 11:29am
Memphis or Minnesota makes the most sense
Remigius
5/18/21 11:31am
Didn't think of Minnesota, but that might be the most logical
BigTex
5/18/21 11:32am
I agree they make the most sense
Remigius
5/18/21 11:35am
They need to send a playoff team East and add 2 expansions to West to rebalance

No city should ever get a second NBA team. Tacoma should get a team before Seattle does.
Blue2thebone
5/18/21 2:08pm
Tacoma is the same market as Seattle
LiveCoug
5/18/21 2:16pm
Seattle was robbed of the Sonics. They never should have left to begin with. The Sonics had great fan support.
lightmann
5/18/21 3:20pm
Did the new owners want to move to OKC yes, did Washington fail to provide public funding for a new venue which would

So pretty soon Vegas will have NBA and MLB teams to go along with the Raiders.
Texas Hammer
5/18/21 11:34am
And the Golden Knights.
neboutefan
5/18/21 11:35am
Right, and will probably be the most popular of the four teams for the next several years.
Texas Hammer
5/18/21 11:38am
Fastest city to go from no major franchises to all 4 leagues
BigTex
5/18/21 11:36am
Which certainly lessens SLCs chances of getting another pro team. Bummer

5/18/21 11:38am
Utah has enough with the Jazz and RSL. Baseball, nah. Football, not happening.
Benfica1
5/18/21 11:43am
Have enough? LOL. Wasatch front growth will trigger more opportunities for
LiveCoug

Yeah. The Wasatch front also has BYU and uu sports. Maybe a future pro LAX team.

I don’t know how SLC doesn’t have a NHL team. Seems so logical... even more than

Utah has a professional Rugby team as well — the Utah Warriors.

TCuz
5/18/21 11:45am
I think calling it LITERALLY the day before is pretty good.
BlueVU
5/18/21 11:47am
People have been making the Seattle /Vegas call for years

I feel like it would take a while to have a net positive effect on revenue
Northwest Cougar
5/18/21 12:09pm
It’s an immediate positive effect on revenue because there are 10 digit expansion fees
TCuz
5/18/21 12:12pm
Holy cow. Who pays for that?
Northwest Cougar
5/18/21 1:53pm
The new ownership group of the expansion team. They buy in, they don’t just get a team for free
TCuz
5/18/21 1:55pm
Oakland A's now looking at Vegas too
Samuel Hall Society
5/18/21 12:11pm
Go ahead and expand, but do it because it's the right long-term move.

5/18/21 12:12pm
Why the Seattle hate? People are upset that Seattle did not give Howard…

They did the right thing...AND dared to challenge David Stern. The only thing
Zooropa
5/18/21 1:14pm
That would be a fun division - Utah, Denver, Vegas, Portland and Seattle
nephicoug
5/18/21 1:15pm
They’d probably abandon divisions or go to two 8 team divisions
PHXSUNS31
