That's not correct. The marginal federal rate is 32% and that won't be the
average rate he pays. Plus he doesn't pay the full 15% FICA, just half that.
But it is still a lot. Probably 45-47%.

agreed... add 10% tithing and it means a take home of about $190k on $400k of gross earnings.
