I think the biggest need for improvement on the team is 3 point shooting. Defensively I think you will see BYU improve on kenpom as the data starts to get more accurate later in the season while the offense will start to get worse if the shooting isn't fixed. The offense will still be solid without improved 3 point shooting because of the things you pointed out but that may not be sustainable as teams start scheming differently to force more perimeter shots.
