As much as I detest Utah and like their fans squirming, it just makes sense. If Big 12 was already looking at Boise St, Memphis, and other options, then Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and Arizona St makes absolute sense. It makes sense for the television, travel partners, conference grouping, and because Utah just won the PAC12. These 4 teams would give them leverage in television contract negotiation, because there would be more schools in the later time zones, so BIG12 viewership is spread throughout the entire Saturday. It would make even more sense to try and get 1-2 of Stanford, Cal, Oregon St, and Washington St. They want to have a national footprint, that extends from Florida and West Virginia to Cal and possibly Oregon or Washington. It could help all teams involved and help with the Texas and Ok loss.
